Bolstering America’s Workforce

Education reform is essential, but it is only the first step. We must also enhance collaboration between education and workforce development systems in order to continually give workers the tools and resources to compete on a global stage. To bolster and support America’s workers for the challenges of the 21st century, we need to develop new strategies and identify innovative ways to meet the needs of our evolving economy by promoting education and job training for high-growth, high-demand fields. To that end, Republicans will:

  • Build a workforce for the future. We must focus on developing an adaptable workforce with the ability to quickly pick up new skills that will allow them to compete in a global economic environment characterized by the free flow of capital, information and technology.
  • Cut red tape and consolidate. We need to streamline the federal job training system to provide governors, states and local officials with the flexibility they need to equip American workers with the training to find a new or better job and quickly return to the workforce.
  • Break down barriers between business and education. We have to foster partnerships between business and education leaders to make education and workforce training more relevant and effective in addressing the demands of the 21st century economy.
